Enjoy a luxury escape to this detached property, ideally located to explore all that the wonderful area of Shropshire has to offer.

Enjoy a luxury escape to this detached property, ideally located to explore all that the wonderful area of Shropshire has to offer.

Sleapford is a quiet hamlet tucked away on the eastern side of Shrewsbury, near to Wellington and Telford. It holds an enviable position central to all areas of Shropshire, with open countryside views and great road networks nearby, making it the perfect base from which to enjoy a luxury break. Perfect for up to five guests, this detached property is consistently furnished throughout with quality fabrics, oak and Mexican terracotta tile flooring, a marble tile bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen. Externally, the property has ample parking and a private decked area on which to enjoy a delicious meal cooked on the gas fired barbecue. Stroll around the owners’ 6-acre grounds to see the wildlife and visit the alpacas.
The Hayloft is within the grounds of Sleapford Farm, which was part of the Duke of Sutherland Lilleshall Estate and dates back to the late 18th century/early 19th century. James Loch, Land Agent for the Duke of Sutherland, made improvements to many of the cottages and farms on the Lilleshall Estate around 1820 and the surrounding land (The Weald Moors) was also extensively drained at this time. The Hayloft was originally the old brick built cowshed to Sleapford Farm with The Hayloft above and had stalls with tyings and mangers for 4 cows and it is thought it dates back to around 1820 when James Loch made these improvements. It was sympathetically renovated and extended by the existing owners in 2008 when the oak timber frame section was added to the original brick building on the footprint of what had been a corrugated iron extension to the original cowshed with stalls and tyings for a further 8 cows.
There are many attractions to explore nearby including RAF Cosford, Ironbridge Gorge Museums and Blists Hill Victorian Town. The lavish country house and gardens at Weston Park are worth a visit, along with Wroxeter Roman City and Vineyards, Attingham Park and Acton Scott Historic Working Farm. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a trip up The Wrekin for some wonderful views over the surrounding area.
The Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is home to the National Trust’s Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd. Ludlow, as well as being renowned for foodies, has a castle and racecourse plus numerous festivals year round. The medieval town of Shrewsbury is looped by the River Severn where guests can enjoy a boat ride, and the theatre sits proudly on the banks. There is also a selection of activities available nearby including mountain boarding, clay shooting, archery, quad trekking, high ropes and mountain biking. Shropshire is also bordered by Staffordshire, Herefordshire and Mid Wales, and all of these areas are ideal for day trips. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

The Hayloft is extremely comfortable and very well equipped. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The area has some outstanding attractions. We spent many happy hours at the Ironbridge Gorge museums as well as visiting Attingham Park and the World of Wedgwood. We had a wonderful holiday and are definitely planning to visit the Hayloft again next year.

Carole and David are wonderful hosts who cannot do enough for you but are not over bearing. The Hayloft is immaculate with more than everything you need. Very high spec even with an electric car charging point we which we used on a number of occasions. The welcome pack is well appreciated and a lovely touch. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. You will need a car to get around.

Immaculate comfortable very well equipped cottage. Comfortable beds great shower and super thick towels. Totally equipped kitchen, smart TVs in every room. My daughter said it was like a posh hotel (Although self catering obviously). South facing decking with chairs and table. Very quiet immediate area but pub in walking distance which served a great Sunday lunch (need to book) and were great with allergies if you need that. The owners were very helpful if needed and full of local information but equally left us to our own devices. Lots of places to visit within a 30 min drive. Would thoroughly recommend.

We have stayed in lots of holiday cottages and this is the best so far. Location wise we have had cottages that have had better views and it has slight traffic noise but this is being very picky. The Hayloft is superb accommodation and we would have no hesitation returning and hopefully one day we will.

This is our second visit to this lovely cottage. It has all the amenities you could want. Carole and David are excellent hosts. We visited the Fox and Hounds at Shawbury for a lunch and also a supper, both were excellent. We hope to return again.
