This well-presented modern barn conversion is perfect for a luxurious family escape to the south west, where there is something for everyone.

Quintessentially English. This is the only way to describe this trio of holiday cottages. The charm of the outside is again reflected in the well-appointed and beautifully presented interior. Stone Barn (ref UKC3594) is a converted barn sleeping up to 6 guests and has been beautifully restored with two bedrooms downstairs, whilst the living room, dining room (with extendable dining table), kitchen, one bedroom and bathroom are upstairs, where you can enjoy the views. It also boasts a hot tub and an enclosed garden. Pilgrim Corner (ref EWQ) has four themed en-suite bedrooms (one bedroom is cosy), and an enclosed private garden complete with hot tub (bring your own towels). No corners have been cut to ensure guests have the best of everything during their stay. A tumble dryer is even provided for you to dry your own towels after using the hot tub. The Old Sweet Shop (ref UKC3164) has been sympathetically restored to maximise the cottage’s space, light and historical features. These include thick stone walls, a fabulous fireplace that now houses a large wood burner, exposed beams, a semi-circular staircase and leaded-light windows. They sit perfectly alongside the high quality fabrics and furnishings, kitchen with large dining table and modern appliances to offer guests every comfort. The Old Sweet Shop is suitable for families with children and groups of adults. Your four-legged friends are also more than welcome. The cottage also benefits from a sunny enclosed garden with lawn and seating area, and a large hot tub, just perfect for a relaxing soak after exploring this beautiful part of the world.
The convenient location means Minehead town centre and its sandy beach are within walking distance whilst the dramatic coast and moorland countryside is all a short drive away. There is a station within walking distance so guests can enjoy the steam trains of the West Somerset Railway. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on the moors, and many places to visit to make a memorable holiday. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge, National Trust, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Looking towards Minehead there is the promenade to enjoy a walk and an ice cream, as well as having a good array of shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants and other amenities. A visit to the enchanting medieval Dunster Castle (National Trust), with its beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill will make for an interesting day out. Porlock and Porlock Weir hold plenty of charm and interest to those who visit the area. Beach within 1 mile. Shops, pub and restaurant 800 yards.

Stone Barn is a lovely place to stay. Its quirky, modern and old. The main living, dining and kitchen area plus 1 bedroom containing a 3/4 double bed (nb. suitable for only 1 adult or 2 small children) are found on the 1st floor. There are 2 further spacious bedrooms downstairs one with an en suite shower, the other with a shower over the bath. Please note that you step down from the downstairs hall into each bedroom and step up from them into the en suite facilities. The beds are very comfortable. The Pineapple bedroom on the ground floor has a patio door - which can be used to access the parking area. Ok in summer but not so good in winter maybe when wet. All flooring and rugs. Note there is a step from here down to the parking area. Parking for 1 car only. A 2nd car can pan be parked safely around the corner on Moor Road. The parking area at the front of Stone Barn is shared with 2 other spaces allocated to the adjacent rental property. There is a low wall either side and the road outside Stone Barn is narrow. To avoid any problems either reverse into the parking space or get one of your party to help you reverse out onto the road. The kitchen is very well equipped and we loved the 'open and slide into the recess' oven door. The water from the kitchen hot tap is very hot so be careful. Sugest that a cupboard/shelf needs to be cleared to store your provisions as there is so much equipment there is not much free space and otherwise your packetszand tins etc end up cluttering the worktops and table. There were only 4 of us as one of our party was Ill and unable to come. The sofa has a pouffe with a rolled cylinder cushion on the end which I did not find very comfortable. The rest of the sofa was fine. The front door is on the 1st floor and is very low, a row of ducks and padding warn you! We had no problems with that. The hot tub was brilliant and the 1st floor garden with a gate was lovely. Location wise Stone Barn is in a very pretty part of Minehead. There are lots of old properties around it and the streets nearby are generally narrow. But you are 5 minutes from the high street by car and there are lots of amenities. Minehead is a good base to visit various places. The West Somerset Railway, Dunster Castle and Lynton and Lynmouth are close by and well worth a visit, to name a few. Would I recommend this accommodation. Yes, providing you are aware of the steps, low front door, parking restrictions and you are reasonably mobile. Decorated to a very good standard. The owners are very helpful and the cake was a nice touch on arrival. Enjoy. We didn't take our young border collie dog on holiday in the end. But I think Stone Barn is fine for a small dog or one used to steps or stairs. Probably not good for very lively pups or old arthritic dogs. Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms. The owners provide blankets, bowl and treats for dogs. Visitor book comments about dogs staying were positive.
