Spacious and flooding with light from the large arched window, the stunningly presented living room boasts comfortable sofas, a wood-burning stove to curl up in front of and beautiful traditional exposed beams and sandstone walls. The spacious well-equipped kitchen provides an ideal space to cook your loved one a romantic meal, and enjoy it together at the dining area in the living room.

    Positives: A tasteful, modern decor and furniture. Quiet location, comfortable double bed. Good sized room and storage, Bath with shower. Wood burner but the handle fell off after 4 days. Lovely coastal strip and not far to the National Park. Many places of interest. Problems: No washer/dryer. The owner installed a dishwasher as an alternative and while it is true there is no space for both at present, this is entirely due to too poor design as the kitchen is large enough for both equipment. No outdoor space. We doubt anyone would feel comfortable the small table and chairs next to the small parking place, dustbins and boiler house on the grass verge. The kitchen is generally well equipped but lacks such items as garlic press, sieve, lemon squeezer. The cork screw and bottle opener were broken on arrival. The tin opener disintegrated on use. The heated towel rail in the bathroom did not work. It was impossible to heat the bathroom in the evening after using the log burner in the evening because the thermostat is wrongly situated in the lounge and shut down at 22C. It took 5 days to have the thermostat changed because the owner insists on prior authority before the managing agents can take any remedial action.

    We have just retuned from our second visit to West Crook cottage and are sorry to say that we feel the standard of cleanliness has deteriorated to the point that others should know. Yes the cottage is an old building with vaulted ceilings and exposed stonework and some dust and cobwebs are to be expected but not to the extent that we experienced. In fact to make our stay more enjoyable we spent half an hour vacuuming cobwebs away from various locations around the cottage. Also advertised on the website is that the first nights wood for use in the log burner would be supplied and that on arrival a welcome pack provided. This was not the case as none were provided. Overall this is a well equipped cottage in a lovely quiet location and a great base for exploring the Northumbrian Coast but sadly our experience will make us look elsewhere for our next visit.

    Cottage was extremely well equipped, although a washing machine would have been useful. Owner was very quick to attend to the leaking guttering which we reported, which was just as well considering the August weather. All in all a perfect base for a married couple to explore the region, by foot, cycle or car. Plenty to do and see in the area, Farne Islands and Cragside were our favourites

    Great location, there is a huge amount to do, castles, gardens, country houses, good food and the Farne Islands. Really spacious cottage in a quiet location. I know the washing machine was removed in favour of the dishwasher. We would have preferred the washing machine. Very comfortable week. We aim to return. One thing; grass needs cutting. Bit of a hayfield at the moment..!

    A very nice cottage. Lots of space for two. Very well furnished and decorated. Quiet peaceful location. Downside minimal outside space,no pub or cafe within 3 miles.No washing machine.

West Crook is like many converted farm buildings, it is located on a working farm and whilst pubs and restaurants are not within walking distance they are a very short drive away. Regarding outside space, there is a garden to the front, lawn to the side and a drive area for 2 cars / somewhere to sit overlooking cattle and sheep grazing.
